The Mental Health Benefits of Prescribing The Arts For Students

New research highlights how engaging in arts—whether through attending events, creating, or performing—boosts mental well-being. A growing movement called social prescribing encourages healthcare providers to recommend arts experiences to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. This approach reinforces the arts as not just entertainment, but a vital tool for well-being.

Nova is a recipient of the Creative Investment Program! This investment will be used to attend the Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability Conference this summer in Cleveland, Ohio.

Joshua Redman is the Frances Yates Bittle Jazz Artist in Residence for JazzFest 2025! Redman is one of the most acclaimed jazz artists of our generation, with a career spanning more than thirty years. In 2023, he launched his debut album, “Where are we,” his first experience writing lyrics and collaborating with a vocalist."

Music and Mindful Mornings w/ Serrated Slump and Lune

Serrated Slump is a Middlebury Neighborhood-based duo of artists who farm in the city. They are inspired by the soundscapes around them, including Route 8, wild birds, cicadas and helicopters. Pete Bach mixes analog and digital music tech, while Avery Duff runs the singing saw and vocals through effects pedals.
