In a world full of information (and let’s be honest, plenty of memes), it’s not always easy to know what’s real or what matters most. That’s why we’re sharing organizations we trust to keep us informed, engaged, and empowered.

From advocacy to education, these groups are doing the work to protect the arts, preserve history, support our libraries, and more. We’re following them on social, signing up for their newsletters, and making sure our voices are part of the conversation.

 

Below, you’ll find a curated list of national and state-level organizations, plus a few standout resources if you’re short on time.

 

Organizations and Resources

CreativeOhio enriches our communities, citizens, and culture through constant advocacy and relentless support of Ohio creatives and the creative economy.

 

If you’re only going to follow one organization or join one newsletter, we strongly suggest CreativeOhio, which covers arts and culture broadly in Ohio and is also following national trends.

 

The American Alliance of Museums champions equitable and impactful museums by connecting people, fostering learning and community, and nurturing museum excellence.

The American Association for State and Local History is a national membership association dedicated to helping the history community thrive.

The American Library Association provides leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library services in order to enhance learning and access to information for all.

 

Americans for the Arts builds recognition and support for the extraordinary and dynamic value of the arts.

 

Art Possible Ohio works together with artists of all ages who have disabilities to advocate for accessibility and inclusivity, advance careers in the creative sector, build community, and improve the academic achievement of Ohio’s students through arts integration.

 

The Association of Zoos and Aquariums is dedicated to the advancement of zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation, education, science, and recreation. 

 

The mission of the Educational Theatre Association: Ohio Chapter is to educate and advocate for diverse and inclusive experiences for all through accessible programming and opportunities that develop essential skills, empathy, and a lifelong passion for theatre.

The National Park Conservatory Association's mission is to protect and enhance America's National Park System for present and future generations.

Ohio Alliance for Arts Education's mission is to ensure that the arts are an integral part of the education of every Ohioan.

The Ohio Art Education Association is a statewide service organization operated by an Executive Committee and Leadership Assembly, consisting of elected representatives from eight regions and eight divisions.

Ohio Humanities is a nonprofit organization that shares stories to spark conversations and inspire ideas.

The Ohio Library Council is the statewide professional association which represents the interests of Ohio’s public libraries, their trustees, Friends and staffs.

 

The Ohio Museums Association is the leading advocate for connecting and empowering Ohio museums and museum professionals.

The Ohio Music Education Association believes all students should have equal access to high quality music instruction delivered by licensed music teachers through comprehensive school programs in general, instrumental and choral music education.
